| May 13-21, 2011 - Lighthouses Of East Coast Florida AND Florida Keys by Joyce Holland | ||||||||||||||||
| Let’s go; it’s time to get back “on the road again.” And, it will be just in time to recover from cabin fever and shake those wintertime blues and in a great place to do it; along the East Coast of Florida, the Sunshine State, all the way down to Key West. This trip will originate and terminate in Baltimore from the BWI Long Term Parking Lot A (our usual pickup point) with additional pickup points traveling South. The first and last day of this trip will be strictly travel days because of the mileage and time constraint rules for the bus and our bus driver, Juan. So, plan your vacation days, mark your calendars, and start stuffing your piggy banks. Space will be limited to 40 people, so do not procrastinate your decision to sign up. The limited space is due to certain charters out to some of the Florida Keys Reef Lights.
On this lighthouse tour we plan to see and/or visit and/or climb Amelia Island, the St. Johns River lights, St. Augustine, Ponce de Leon, Cape Canaveral, Jupiter Inlet, Hillsboro Inlet and Cape Florida, (all along the East Coast.) In the Florida Keys: Fowey Rock (by boat), Key Largo (on land,) Carysfort Reef (by boat), Alligator Reef (by boat), Sombrero Reef (by boat), American Shoal (by boat) and Sand Key (from ferry,) and Key West Lighthouse (on land.) We will also go out to Ft. Jefferson for a day trip on the “Fast Cat” ferry, to see Garden Key and Dry Tortugas a.k.a Loggerhead. While at Ft. Jefferson, you will have the opportunity to go snorkeling, so bring your bathing suits; if not for snorkeling, bring them for swimming at the hotels. There will also be some leisure time for you to explore and enjoy, on your own, Key West and St. Augustine. The cost for this lighthouse tour, for 9 days and 8 nights, for both members and non-members is $4,500.00 for a double (two people sharing the same room,) and $2,900.00 for a single. This cost will include all of your transportation (from Maryland to Key West and return,) lodging, meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) with gratuity, 5 exclusive boat charters to see 5 reef lights up close and personal, and admissions to all lighthouses and parks. If you are interested in this trip, please fill out the registration form and mail with a deposit, $150.00 per person. You do not need to be a Chapter member to take any of our lighthouse tours. If you have any questions, or want more information, please contact Joyce and Robert Holland at hollandraj@aol.com, or 410-548-1783.
