2 42 inch height requirement to climb light. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Anyone climbing the lighthouse must have shoes on with heel support - i.e., cannot climb in flip flops, open sandals without a strap around the heel, etc.

3 Cove Point Light is an active aid to navigation and the tower is closed to the public, however the keeper's quarters and grounds are open to the public.

4 $1.00 per person out-of-state resident fee waived for Turkey Point and Point Lookout.

5 The Golden Age Pass is accepted at Ft. Washington, Point Lookout and Elk Neck State Park (Turkey Point). The National Park Service and the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) both offer a Golden Age Passport. For more information about these and other park passes visit the National Park Service website at www.nps.gov/fees_passes.htm and the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) website at www.dnr.state.md.us/accessforall/accessforms.html.

NOTE: All Active Military (must show proof) and handicap persons are admitted to the parks free.

6 Challenge set-up outside main museum entrance. If you do not wish to enter the museum grounds to access the lighthouse, souvenirs will be available at the main museum entrance (no charge). Please note that the lighthouse will close promptly at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday evening due to another scheduled event.

7 This caisson lighthouse is NOT a required stop along the Challenge route, but is conveniently located and representative of other offshore caissons around the Bay. Vehicle passengers can clearly view the lighthouse from the western portion of the Bay Bridge. You will cross this bridge on Rt. 50 between Baltimore (Seven Foot Knoll) and St. Michaels (Hooper Strait). You may enter the park for a closer view. Souvenirs and Challenge volunteers WILL NOT be set up at this location. A souvenir for this lighthouse will be available at other Challenge locations for all Challengers whether or not they choose to enter the park.

8 Visiting this replica will require a short boat ride to and from the St. Clement's Island Museum ($5.00 charge), and a 1/2 mile walk to and from the lighthouse. High winds/heavy rains could cause boat cancellation. Call ahead in the event of inclement weather (301) 769-2222. You will be able to pick up the Blackistone Lighthouse souvenir at the lighthouse ONLY. Tower will be open for climbing/Donations welcome. Handicapped Access – Museum on mainland only.

Bay Bridge Traffic can be monitored on 570AM WTNT (DC) or 967FM (Easton, MD).
